Frequently asked questions
How fit do I need to be to climb Toubkal?
Any hiker in good physical condition can do it. There is no technical climbing, but it is a high-altitude walk on rocky terrain with about 900 m of ascent on summit day. We build in an acclimatisation day and recommend drinking at least 4 litres of water a day from day 2.
Are meals included?
Yes, during the trek our mountain cooks prepare hot, balanced meals (tagines, Moroccan salads, tea). Only lunches on the transfer days are at your own expense.
Where do we sleep?
One night in a riad in Marrakech, two nights in a Berber gîte in Aït Souka and two nights at the Toubkal refuge (3,210 m) with shared bathrooms.
What should I bring?
A warm sleeping bag, technical layers (fleece, waterproof and windproof jacket), good hiking boots, trekking poles, hat, sunglasses and sunscreen. Mules carry your main bag; you walk with a light daypack.
Can the trek be customised?
Yes. For private groups and families we can change the duration, add an extra acclimatisation day or adjust the difficulty.
