Desert Legacy Tours is a local desert travel agency based in M'Hamid El Ghizlane, the last oasis before the Sahara in southern Morocco. We run 4x4 desert tours, camel treks and nomad bivouac camps to Erg Chigaga, Erg Zahar and the Draa Valley, departing from M'Hamid, Zagora, Ouarzazate, Marrakech and Agadir, as well as High Atlas treks, day trips from Marrakech and desert yoga retreats. Groups are 1 to 8 people, guides are local nomads, and the best season runs from October to April.

New Year's Eve in the Sahara: Desert Camp Celebration near Erg Chigaga

Ring in the New Year far from city noise, in a comfortable nomad camp on the edge of Erg Chigaga. The evening combines a traditional Moroccan festive dinner (vegetarian options available), live music, dancing and storytelling around the fire, and one of the darkest, clearest night skies in Morocco. Warm sleeping bags, thick blankets and clean bathrooms are provided. Shuttles from Marrakech, Ouarzazate, Zagora and Merzouga can be arranged, and the stay can be extended with camel or 4x4 days in the dunes. Next edition: 31 December 2026 to 1 January 2027.

Our best-selling desert tour: cross the High Atlas and the Draa Valley to M'Hamid, then spend a half day walking and riding camels across the hamada before the 4x4 drops you at Erg Chigaga, Morocco's largest sea of sand. Yoga retreats in the Moroccan desert

Far from the city, a desert yoga retreat combines daily practice, sunrise meditation and deep relaxation in the silence of the Sahara. You stay in an eco-friendly camp in the dunes of Erg Chigaga or Merzouga, with sessions suited to all levels and led by certified instructors.
