Itinerary

  1. Day 1: Agadir – Taroudant – Taliouine – Draa Valley – M'HamidDeparture from Agadir in your private 4x4 via the walled town of Taroudant and the saffron area of Taliouine, then down into the Draa Valley. Arrival at M'Hamid El Ghizlane for dinner and the night in a fixed camp.
  2. Day 2: Trek M'Hamid – Sidi NajiMeet your nomad guide and camels and start walking (3-4 hours) through the palm grove and the first dunes to Sidi Naji, an old caravan stop. Wild bivouac set up with the team, dinner and campfire.
  3. Day 3: Trek Sidi Naji – Erg ZaharA second day of walking (3-4 hours) across regs and small dunes to Erg Zahar, the 'singing dune', one of the most unspoilt ergs of the region. Sunset from the top and night in a wild bivouac.
  4. Day 4: 4x4 Erg Zahar – Erg ChigagaThe 4x4 picks you up for the drive to Erg Chigaga, the largest dune field in Morocco. Free time on the great dunes, dinner and a musical evening at a nomad camp.
  5. Day 5: Erg Chigaga – AgadirSunrise on the dunes, breakfast and the drive back across the tracks and the Anti-Atlas to Agadir, arriving in the evening.

Frequently asked questions

How hard is the trekking?

The two walking days are 3-4 hours each at a relaxed pace on sand and flat regs. No technical difficulty, just a reasonable level of fitness. The camels carry all the luggage.

Where do we sleep?

Night 1 in a fixed camp at M'Hamid, nights 2 and 3 in wild bivouacs (tents, mattresses and blankets) set up by the team, and night 4 in a nomad camp at Erg Chigaga.

Why start from Agadir?

We pick you up directly at your hotel in Agadir, so you do not need to travel to Marrakech first. The route via Taroudant, Taliouine and the Draa Valley is scenic in its own right.

Is this a private tour?

Yes. All our departures are private, in small groups of 1 to 8 people, with your own vehicle, driver and local guide. Dates are flexible and the programme can be adapted to your group.

What should I pack?

Light, breathable clothes for the day and a few warm layers for the evening, comfortable closed shoes, a hat, sunglasses and sun cream. Blankets are provided, but bring a sleeping bag if you have one for extra comfort.
