Itinerary

  1. Day 1: Kelaat M'Gouna – TalmoutMeet the team at Kelaat M'Gouna, the town of the roses, and walk up the Valley of Roses to the village of Talmout. Night in a gîte.
  2. Day 2: Talmout – Aït SaïdFollow the valley between rose hedges and fields to Aït Saïd and its earthen kasbahs, still inhabited. Night in a gîte.
  3. Day 3: Aït Saïd – Agouti – RbatCross the Qat gorges near Agouti and continue to Rbat, a village at the foot of the mountains.
  4. Day 4: Rbat – Jbel Tadaout – BoutghrarClimb the Jbel Tadaout for views over the M'Goun massif, then descend to Boutghrar. Night in a gîte or bivouac.
  5. Day 5: Boutghrar – M'Goun gorges – Aït YoulHighlight of the trek: walk through the M'Goun gorges, partly in the river (sandals needed), to Aït Youl where the trek ends.

Frequently asked questions

How difficult is the trek?

Easy to moderate and open to all levels: 4-6 hours of walking a day on valley paths and one mountain climb, with mules carrying the loads.

When are the roses in bloom?

Roses flower in spring, usually April to May, with the Rose Festival at Kelaat M'Gouna in May. The trek runs from spring to autumn.

What should I bring for the gorges?

Sandals or shoes that can get wet for the walk in the river on day 5, plus the usual sun protection and warm layers for the evening.

How do I get to Kelaat M'Gouna?

Transfers from Marrakech or Ouarzazate can be arranged on request; tell us where you are starting from.

Is this a private tour?

Yes. All our departures are private, in small groups of 1 to 8 people, with your own vehicle, driver and local guide. Dates are flexible and the programme can be adapted to your group.

The only 3-day desert tour starting in Ouarzazate. Descend the Draa Valley to Tamegroute and M'Hamid for lunch with a local family, a visit to the old kasbah and an evening of Sahrawi music. Day two is a camel trek across the Draa hamada to the sacred oasis and the dunes of Erg Chigaga for sunset and a night at the nomad camp, before returning via Oulad Driss.

Imnane Valley 3-Day Trek: Easy High Atlas Hike from Marrakech to Imlil

The ideal first trek in the High Atlas. From Marrakech you reach Imi Ouglad and walk village to village through walnut and cherry orchards, terraced fields and the Imnane Valley, ending in Imlil at the foot of Toubkal. A local mountain guide leads the way, mules carry your main luggage and both nights are spent in traditional gîtes at Imesker and Ounskera.
